The thought of counselling can seem quite daunting, talking about yourself and thinking about your feelings may seem too much. I like to see counselling as an ongoing, weekly conversation between two people who have your best interests at heart. Unlike friends or family I have no agenda beyond helping you to make choices that truly are in your best interests. Together we look at what's gong on for you and why there might be areas that need working through and the tools needed to do so.
My aim is to offer clients a safe and non judgemental space that allows you the opportunity to understand yourself better. I believe that by understanding why we do what we do, we can change and grow and develop. This allows us to make different choices.
My previous clients have had a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, relationship & self esteem issues and work issues amongst others. I also work with clients who are looking to co-parent effectively. I have worked in agency and private practice for a number of years.
I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, Foundation Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills, Certificate in Bereavement Counselling, Certificate in CBT Skills and The BACP Certificate of Proficiency. I have worked within an agency setting, hospice and bereavement agency for many years. As a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists' I adhere to their guidelines and ethics.
